The County Parks Department’s environmental and conservation programs has received a boost with a $15,000 grant from Con Edison as part of the company’s ongoing green initiatives. The funds will go a long way in supporting many County Parks programs that educate the public about the importance of preserving our natural environment here in Westchester.
Con Edison has a long-established tradition of contributing to and maintaining the social, cultural, and economic vitality of its service areas. Con Edison’s grant will support biodiversity and endangered species research, as well as public education programs on topics ranging from ecological sustainability, green practices in gardening to backyard bird watching and habitat maintenance. The grant will also support the county parks department’s Children’s Summer Ecology program and the Conversations on Conservation Café series, a forum for dialogue on current conservation topics.
