PLANNED GIVING
Through planned giving, it is possible to make gifts to Friends of Westchester County Parks that you may have once through impossible. You may consider gifts of securities or real estate, life insurance policies, or charitable trusts. Planning your gift now will maximize your charitable contribution, and provide substantial tax deductions under both state and federal law. You will also be contributing to a legacy of parks that will endure in perpetuity.
BEQUESTS
You can make a donation to parks by supporting them through your will or living trust, or by naming Friends of Westchester County Parks as a beneficiary of your estate. When you provide for a future gift, you can sustain your family name and ensure that your intentions are expressed.
ENDOWMENTS
Your gift to the Friends could be directed to an endowment fund. This type of gifting provides a continuous stream of interest income to the Friends to help maintain and enhance the programs, services and activities offered by Westchester County Parks.
It will also ensure the long-term upkeep of our properties and buildings. Our goal is to establish a self-generating funding source to pay for suck projects as tree replacement and park enhancement at Kensico Dam Plaza, the long-term care and maintenance of the September 11 Memorial at Kensico, playground expansion and care of our gardens and tree groves. COMMEMORATIVE GIFTS
The Friends of Parks Tree Trust and Future Forests Fund has been established to allow a significant event or memorialize a loved one. Your donation will also be helping to preserve, protect and enhance Westchester’s forests, gardens and horticulture programs. Funds generated through the trust also provide a perpetual endowment for the benefit of the county’s forestry program.
Contributors choose where their dollars go by selecting from one or more funding options. Donations range from $20 towards a Maintenance Endowment Fund to $1,000 Memorial Tree fund for which a tree will be planted in the name of anyone you choose, along with a memorial plaque. Donors can also contribute $1,500 for a Memorial Bench for which a park bench with a plaque is placed in the county park of your choice. |
In Kind Many local business owners for whom significant cash donations are not an option choose to support their parks by donating a variety of goods and services in-kind. Areas restaurants and supermarkets have donated food and beverages for our volunteers; private amusement companies have loaned portable play equipment for children and many have supported us with memberships, tickets, and gift certificates, for use as door prizes at special events. A Gift is a Lasting Tribute Westchester’s parks rely so little on tax levy dollars, a result prudent financial management and revenue generating parks and facilities. But revenue from these income-producing sources alone cannot fully pay for the care and maintenance required in our parks. In order to keep Westchester’s parks clean, green and growing, the Friends offer several opportunities for people who love the parks to be a part of their success. |
