Auction Raised Nearly $5,000 for 9/11 Memorial on September 17

Shoppers at The Westchester Saturday Sept 17 raised nearly
$5,000 at the “Support the Memory” Silent Auction to benefit
The Rising, Westchester’s September 11th Memorial.
The
public made bids on four-night getaway Cape Cod vacations, day spa
treatments, golf outings to Godiva baskets and Broadway
shows.
The
silent auction is sponsored by the Friends of Westchester County
Parks, Inc., The Westchester mall and WHUD Radio
To add to the festivities, there was live music, children’s
entertainment, refreshments and free give-aways.
“The Rising” is an 80-foot-high steel structure honoring the 111 Westchester residents who were killed on September 11, 2001.
The memorial will bear the names of all the Westchester residents
who died and quote about them by their loved ones. The words will
be inscribed along the outside of the memorial’s circular base.
Designed by noted New York architect, Frederic Schwartz, “The
Rising” is being constructed at Kensico
Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
All funds raised at the “Support the Memories” Silent Auction
will benefit the Friends of Parks September 11th Memorial fund.
