Silent Auction Raised Nearly $5,000 for 9/11 Memorial on September 17

Auction at The Westchester featured variety of great gifts.
You can still make a donation.

Shoppers at The Westchester Saturday Sept 17 raised nearly $5,000 at the “Support the Memory” Silent Auction to benefit The Rising, Westchester’s September 11th Memorial.

The public made bids on four-night getaway Cape Cod vacations, day spa treatments, golf outings to Godiva baskets and Broadway shows.

The silent auction is sponsored by the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc., The Westchester mall and WHUD Radio

To add to the festivities, there was live music, children’s entertainment, refreshments and free give-aways.

“The Rising” is an 80-foot-high steel structure honoring the 111 Westchester residents who were killed on September 11, 2001. The memorial will bear the names of all the Westchester residents who died and quote about them by their loved ones. The words will be inscribed along the outside of the memorial’s circular base. Designed by noted New York architect, Frederic Schwartz, “The Rising” is being constructed at Kensico
Dam Plaza in Valhalla.

All funds raised at the “Support the Memories” Silent Auction will benefit the Friends of Parks September 11th Memorial fund. Donations are tax-deductible. For more information, call 914-995-2951 or log on to www.westchestergov.com
