SIXTEEN
COMPUTER DESIGNED IMAGES OF THE RISING
The
sixteen images of The Rising September 11th Memorial
developed by Bo Gehring, a fine arts computer specialist who
consulted with Tallix Foundry on the memorial design. They are
representative of the hundreds of images that he made in support
of the creative process.

Using
advanced computer modeling techniques, Gehring designed a method
in which the joints of the structure, called the nodes, could be
made in one casting rather than fabricating from individual
pieces. Because this method is considered a much more efficient
way of producing the nodes, his designs greatly reduced the cost
of the structure. They also added shape to geometry of the
structure, making it more smoothly curved and aesthetically
attractive.
Gehring’s
so called “sculpture theatre” studio, located in Beacon, New
York, is the only one of its kind in the U.S.
